This was supposed to be Joe-Pye Weed (Eupatorium purpureum ). I bought a couple of tiny plants last year and planted them. They are growing, and spreading, rather well. Still, I think this may be Hollow Eupatorium (fistulosum), instead. Grows wild here'abouts. Perhaps the seller simply propagated for sale some local plants. Looks VERY similar to Joe-Pye Weed. Probably does the same thing, herbally speaking.

Japanese Knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum). Not one of the herbs I use preferring rhubarb, senna, and/or Rumex. August 10, 2008.
