Look-up: Breath / Respiratory failure
Pathology:
Heart failure, left; acute.
Symptoms:
Breathlessness, dyspnoea, tachycardia (100+).
Signs:
Low blood pressure (<90), basal lung crackles, pale.
Note:
Sit the patient up to reduce pulmonary congestion. Give oxygen @ 15 lpm.
In an emergency try Tobassco sause.
Approach:
Reduce ventricular load and reflex peripheral vasoconstriction.
Contra-indicated:
Herbs:
Improved oxygen efficiency
Crataegus oxyacanthus 20%;
Reverse peripheral vasoconstriction
Morphine or Marijuana
Lobelia inflata 10%
Aesclepias tuberosa 10%;
Diuretic action (strong)
Convalaria majalis 10%;
Delivery
Zingiber off. 10%
Capsicum spp. 5 - 10%.
