Gout
Look-up: T, J & B / Osteoarthritis
Pathology:
A build-up of [uric] acid crystals in tissue and joints, usually affecting the fingers and toes.
Note:
I have a particular interest in this because in my decadent youth I was afflicted with a particularly distracting attack of gout. The Arthitis Society in Canada states that weight loss, beer, wine, seafood, and coffee are things to be avoided. They suggest taking NSAIDs and steroids. I believe they are wrong on all counts. They simply don't have an understanding of the state of ill-health ... as one would expect from their Allopathic roots.
Primary Treatment:
The most effective treatment is to make the body alkali (see Health / Programs / Therapeutic Fasting).
Symptomatic Approach:
Skin not broken:
Blood_Purifying_Tonic_#2DC80 between meals.
Foot_Water_Bath several nights in succession.
Apply Heat_Lotion just before bed.
Skin broken or cracked:
Apply Skin_Ointment_#2DC66.
Composition_Powder_#2DC96 tea before bed. Lumbago_Tonic_#1DC163 for quick relief.
Rheumatism_Capsules_#1DC178 to raise the general circulation.
Contra-indicated:
Sulphites! Cheap (or common) beer and wines typically contain sulphites. Sulphites are acid provoking. Microbrewed beer and certified organic wine are alkali in the body and hence are allowed. Why coffee and tea are disallowed by the Arthritis Society is beyond me as large amounts of organic coffee or tea are alkalizing (ie. anti-acid).
NSAIDs! Aspirin is an example. These are pure acids. Really stupid to recommend these. Too bad the Arthritis Society gets money from drug companies.
Influenza vaccination.
Herbs:
Colchicum (Autumn Crocus), internally. Organic cider vinegar (it's alkalizing, really!), topically ... dilute 75% with water.
